The Junior League of Springfield is proud to announce Laura Blakey as its 2025 Cheri Clark Bouquet of Enthusiasm Award recipient.
Cheri Clark was an active member of the Junior League of Springfield who died tragically in 1989 while delivering a baby to its adoptive family on behalf of the division of Family Services. Cheri’s dedicated and cheerful spirit is kept alive through the presentation of this award each May, given to a JLS member who embodies Cheri’s spirit: a positive attitude and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Over the past five years, Laura has served with distinction, serving two consecutive terms as Chair of the Plaid Door committee. Laura brings people together and always has a ready smile. Whether working with Provisionals or seasoned Actives, she ensures that every voice is heard and valued, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion. Her innovative thinking helped Plaid Door meet its annual fundraising goal three months ahead of schedule, proving that her ideas don’t just inspire—they deliver results. Under her guidance, the boutique has successfully navigated not one but two major relocations—a feat made possible by her strategic mindset, tireless work ethic, and steadfast commitment to the League.
Beyond the League, she serves her community as an elementary school teacher, a devoted mother of two, and Treasurer of her children’s PTA. She models service not only through her own actions but by involving her family in her volunteer work—instilling the values of generosity and commitment in the next generation.
